I mention what I like and usually ignore the other stuff.

2013

I’m just now getting around to looking at all the books I read in 2013, and there’s so much to be thankful for. Among the forty-something books I finished, I found several new-to-me authors who I’ll now be looking out for regularly. Some of these, such as George Gissing and Stefan Zweig, are long gone and have plenty of backlist for me to dip into. Is there anything better than finding a new writer you love with a huge backlist? The ultimate example of this is Anthony Trollope—the gift that keeps on giving.

Some of my favorite reads of 2013 were The Post Office Girl by Stephan Zweig

The Odd Women by George Gissing, State of Wonder by Ann Patchett, Poison by Sara Pinborough, Falling Glass by Adrian McKinty, Me Before You by JoJo Moyes, Notes from the Underwire by Quinn Cummings, and Cross and Burn by Val McDermid.
